Today I got the best news...our Mustgos from Cariboo Knits are ready! They look amazing - Lisa has a talent for matching solids with colourways.

In other news...I got my first woven wrap in the mail today. It is an older Didymos, called Tina (conceited much?), but it has a neat square pattern that reminds me of Q-bert. And it is red (I love red). I'll have to get some pics once it is washed up and I have a cute baby to wrap in it :)

I am so excited to say that these Mustgos (from Lisa at Cariboo Knits) are going to be coming to live here! I asked to be put on Lisa's waitlist early last year, and since Josephine is pretty much PL'd, I knew when my spot came up I had to have some itty bitty Mustgos for the new bean!

There have been lots of big changes these past few weeks...

I have set up my store on Hyena Cart, so hopefully I will be able to stock some custom slots and in stock items soon!

I am also going back to school in the fall, so I am busy finishing up a correspondence course this summer.

Here is my most recent FO - Ky Baby Knits' This is How Much I Love You with Pink on BBR. I battled pooling with them, but eventually got the colourway to cooperate fairly well.

I'm working on another KBK colourway right now - Edward, inspired by my vampire love :). I hope to have completed pics of those soon!

I am pleased to announce that Teenie Knits will be celebrating July birthdays with Paula of Yarnoodles on Friday, July 10!

In addition to the wonderful yarn she is stocking, some of my WAHM friends are offering handspun fiber and other knit items.

My contribution is a pair of Olivia Pants, and a YYMN slot using any Yarnoodles yarn purchased during the stocking!

This week I also finished a set for a dear friend of mine. This is Ky Baby Knits' "Breaking Dawn" on Marr Haven Rambouillet. I loved knitting it up, especially since it reminded me of the Twilight series.

Cargo pants were knit with a ribbed elastic waistband, linen stitch cuffs, and X and O cables on the pockets.

I knit this cute little shrug with the remaining yarn. I think it was the perfect way to make it a little more girly!

July 1 is Canada Day up here in the Great White North - and our town puts on the cutest little parade. Last year I was working during it, so I wasn't able to go. This year I jumped at the chance for our family to go and take it in!

The weather was perfect - hot, with just a little breeze. We headed to the corner of our street (which joins up with main street) and set up our chairs and waited with anticipation.

The procession included members of town council, our town royalty, classic cars, businesses, and home-decorated bikes and wagons. So fun!

And yes, no Canadian parade is complete without Mounties and a Zamboni!

These were a YYMN that I did in exchange for some yummy yarn! It is Mosaic Moon's "Elements" on Cestari Superfine Merino, and it was a dream to knit up!

This week has been crazy! A close friend of mine married her partner of 10 years on Saturday, and I had the pleasure of baking their wedding cake. I have only done character cakes before, so when Sarah and Graem asked me if I would make their cake, I was more than a little nervous. After giving me some general ideas, the flavour and creative aspect was left to me - and this was the result. White chocolate cake with lemon Mousseline filling, iced with a white chocolate buttercream. The bride and grrom wanted something simple and elegant, and told me they weren't afraid of colour - so I did a periwinkle blue icing and textured it to look like plaster, and added fresh flowers to match their decor. I am so happy that that they loved it! The guests were intrigued by the blue cake.

Baking kept me busy, but I did find time to finish a couple of knitting projects also.

First, I finally added a drawstring to the ...a time to dye "Songs of Meditation" newborn longies I knit a while back. These are going to be sent as a gift to a friend who is expecting this winter.

Also, I finished up another tester for a fellow knitter - Hippy Pippy's "Intergalactic". I love how they turned out!

I had the pleasure of testing my knitting with one of my favourite knitters ever, Andrea of Dwell Wool Knits! Her work is impeccable, and I am hoping that she will be able to provide valuable insight into my work. Here are the board shorts I knit from her yarn, Western Sky Knits' London on Cestari (the thickest I have ever seen!).

The weather is hot and dry here, but that doesn't mean there is a shortage of rainbows!

Sarah sent me this bright and cheerful Galway Paint yarn for a YYMN, and while I struggled with pooling, I can't help but smile when I look at the finished longies I knit from it. It is the perfect colourway for summer!

I am not normally a fan of rainbow colourways for my daughter's personal stash, but when I saw Yarnoodles' Spring Love, I had to have it! It was beautiful in the hank, but it didn't disappoint once knit, either. These are my favourites so far!

Tester slots are now in full swing! I am trying to work them in around my final exams, so I am one busy girl. I am having so much fun working up the yarn everybody sent in.

In other news, I was offered a spot in the elementary education program at my university for fall; however, it looks like I need to complete a course by correspondence before it is secured. I honestly didn't think my odds of being accepted were good - the faculty interviewed 105 students for only 50 positions. I guess I dazzled them.

As a result, I may not be taking any new testers in the near future - I need to finish that class ASAP and hope that there will still be room for me.

I'm still new to knitting, and blocking is my latest foe. It seems I need to learn how to best poke and prod in order to make my work look its best! These were the Songs of Meditation longies, post-wash (1st blocking). I have since worked on the tension issues where I wove in the ends, and am working on getting new pics of the improvement.

I received this yarn in a magic yarn ball swap, and it just screamed newborn to me! Perfectly gender-neutral, this BFL from Lamar at ...a time to dye is knitting up so smoothly.
